Most companies have some built-in upgrade paths to get consumers hooked on their products. As we know, a lot of Grumman owners are going to Bonanzas for the extra speed. Here is a thought. To start with, the two-place Grumman shares the same empenage (did I get the spelling right?) and basically the same wing. It's the front halves that are different. Well, the elevator is different too. It wouldn't be all that difficult to build a real two place with an O320 (or an IO320 with CS prop) and use real wings with wing tanks. Very little (on the current Tiger) would need to be modified to make a two seater. Then, keep the Tigers as is, but call it the Cheetah and make it a low budget VFR plane with an O360. Then, put an IO360 with CS prop in a Tiger with various instrument packages available. Then, get the TC for the Cougar and make a 6 cylinder single engine plane out of it. Sort of the reverse of what was done with the Twin Comanche or Twin Beech. It would be a bigger faster single engine Grumman. Call it whatever you want. Then license the Cougar from Aerospacial (or what ever they call themselves) to be built (or Sold) in the US. I saw a second report that Tiger is acquiring the Commander. Is this another 'cash-cow' or are they serious about making a better airplane? Oh, yea, then hire some automotive assembly line Industrial Engineers to fix some of the poor design layouts on the Grummans which make them so time consuming to maintain. Which means it takes too long to build the first time. This only adds cost to the end product. Just an idea. It's a pretty sucky movie, but it has some great flying sequences. I rented Operation Lightning. It has a lot of old bi-planes and dog fights. Not bad. I rented Air America, Operation Jaguar. Some flying. Too much dialog and a weak plot. So far, it's not all that great. Gary
