I just opened the box yesterday. OK, so, I've been busy. The plan... is to mount the gauge at the bottom of the avionics stack. Because this Tiger has a 430 and one other nav/com, there is a lot of room in the stack. The gauge and the prop controller will just barely fit side by side in the stack. If I can't make it work this way, I'll put the manifold pressure gauge in the space where the autopilot switches are and leave the controller in the radio stack. More to come ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 11:55:27 AM PST US From: Aucountry@aol.com Subject: TeamGrumman-List: Cowling Update 7.1 --> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: Aucountry@aol.com We completed the tooling for the new bottom cowling portions. They look really bitchin'. Dave likes the shallow one, I like the other one. We'll see which is faster and which cools better. The ones without the nose gear boot will be able to remove in about 10 minutes. Putting them on takes a bit longer because the baffle seals are a little short yet. I'll probable change that in the next go round. So, now, I have essentially three cowlings to flight test. I should be getting the test plane in a couple of weeks. I got about 6-10 more knots out of the new cowling with the original cooling ramps and nose gear boot. I'm anxious to see what difference the new cowlings make. ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 11:56:07 AM PST US From: Aucountry@aol.com Subject: TeamGrumman-List: Cowling Update 7.1.1 --> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: Aucountry@aol.com Oh, yea, the new cowling only has ONE exit ramp! It's 16 inches wide, but there is only one. ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 01:33:55 PM PST US From: Bruce Smith Subject: Re: TeamGrumman-List: MT Prop Update --> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: Bruce Smith Gary, Does the diameter of the MT spinner match the diameter of the Grumman spinner? If not, how much difference? Thanks. Anyone know the source of the interference? > Any ideas? ========================== Very interesting ..... Can you answer a couple of things? 1 - You say you disconnected your Gyros ... are you referring to the T&B? 2 - You say you have ALL electronics OFF ... Well, I assume that is true .. But, what frequency is set in your VOR? If you see any frequency between 109.00 to 109.95 and you have a NARCO, I know it is a problem with NARCO, maybe others? It will interfere with the signal strength and you will get a LOST SATELLITE message. Now, here are a couple of other tests you can make: a> Run off the internal GPS BATTERY and see if you still get the same problem. b> Check your supply voltage for the plane, are you at or above 12.5 V DC at the GPS connection? The WARM FUZZY voltmeter will show you supply (battery) and charge system condition at all times. c> Swap GPS Antenna's. Does the signal drop off, do you get the same signal strength with both antennas? I found with the interference given off by the NARCO VORs I had to move the antenna all the way to the turtle deck before it was not a factor. OK, That's all for now ... Let us know how you made out. Have you ever known me not to say what I was thinking? I was against the PowerFlow when it first came out. Now, I really like it. My only complaint with the PowerFlow is that they screwed up the alignment of how the exhaust gets from the collector to the muffler. If I put one in my own plane, I'd cut the s-bend and reweld in a different alignment. Too bad the PowerFlow guys fell down on the final fit and finish of the tail-pipe. Gary
