Don't know if they still make it. The in use picture is on a 79 Tiger and I made it for my 77 Cheetah. I'm pretty certain it will work on all Lycoming installations including the 540's. I had thought the wrench was a Snap On but it is actually a MAC. The wrench is 12 point as the angle of movent is limited. Cut the notch with a die grinder with a small wheel (ie worn) as to not cut both sides of the 7/16 box. Leave enough material to just clear the stud. This retains adequate strength of the wrench for the intended job. This is really worth cutting up the wrench (and forfetting possible waranty). It works really well and turns what was once a real pain into something simple. The next person that removes the pump that is unaware of the tool will not be happy though Good luck Jim Ransom N9963U TeamGrumman@aol.com wrote: --> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: TeamGrumman@aol.com In a message dated 01/11/04 07:13:48 AM, andy@webshoppe.net writes: > has anyone come up with a tool to tighten that "fourth" nut on the vacuum > pump > without removing the mag....id like to buy one for the airport....some how > banging on a nut with a screwdriver and hammer doesnt seem like the best way > to do it > This is a good one. I always remove the mag. I can't see another way to do it. There have even been times when I've had to remove the Oil Filter adapter. Also, years ago I had a special tool to remove/tighten the nut on the main gear axel. I loaned it out and never saw it again. I asked about the tool years ago and was told that everyone uses vice-grips. So, has anyone got a line on the correct tool? I can't seem to find one. Gary From: "andy thomas" Subject: special tool List-Archive: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: List-Help: Gang, has anyone come up with a tool to tighten that "fourth" nut on the vacuum pump without removing the mag....id like to buy one for the airport....some how banging on a nut with a screwdriver and hammer doesnt seem like the best way to do it how do others do it? thanks.... andy thomas
