Gary,
There's a lot of chatter about the Cheetah to Tigah conversions on the
GG. As I recall, you're Cheetah was a 160 (or so) hp bird, and didn't
you get 140 kts+??

Dear AG-5B owners. I am currently redoing my panel for my 1992 tiger to
reflect
a more modern design. The panel will be powder coated and silk-screened. I
can
do a panel for your aircraft and make modifications to instrument
placements.
I have paid for the CADD transfer of our panel and can custom make a panel
for
your aircraft. I am trying to offset the setup costs for the panel layout.
Please call at 480-510-6534. I have included a jpeg drawing of the panel to
view.
Thanks
Daniel

YUP! but, what's the point in saying anything on GG? My goal is to get
155+ out of a Tiger.

I think Gary is talking about 155 kts, not MPH. He is already faster than
143kts as I recall. (We are talking about a standard Tiger here, right
Gary?)
What are you referring to? A HC engine Cheetah? You should be able to get
130 kts if that is the case.

I am getting about 150 knots true on a rough Tiger with my new cowling.
When I get my own Tiger, (say, anyone want a very very clean 1999 Chevy Blazer,
white, gray interior, 96K miles, 19/23 mpg, it has every option available in
1999 except for leather seats and a sun roof. I'm asking Bluebook, $7800.=20
As
soon as it's gone, I'm getting a plane.) and I'm going to put my cowling on
it and do all the other tricks I did to my Cheetah. I'd like to see
consistent 155 knots out of a Tiger.
Cliff, if you'll recall, I had a Cheetah that trued at 140 knots. HC
engine.
I think 155 knots is within reach for a light Tiger. Peter Otten claimed
149 with just the 200hp. I can get 205 from a parallel valve O360. Now,=20if
the MT folks will just release the two-blade CS prop to the States for the
O360, .....

You are going to have to send attachments separately to each person that
wants one. The server looks at attachments as virus'.

Three questions for the group. What is the empty weight of your aircraft? Second
does anyone have some good information about the performance gains with the
Powerflow exhaust on a Tiger. Has anyone done any cylinder work to improve performance?
Thank you in advance,
Daniel

Daniel, when Gary did my major overhaul we had LyCon engine shop port,
polish and flow balance my new cylinders. They charged $200 per cylinder
additional to the cost of the Lycoming cylinders. This is an approved mod
by Lycoming. I think it has made a noticeable difference. My engine dyno
tested at 198 hp. A few days ago on a flight to San Francisco I was at a
TRUE 140kts at 10,500. My ground speed was 155kts.

Daniel
... Lycon in Visalia, CA will port, polish and flow balance
Lycoming cylinders and claim an extra 18 to 20 HP for an O-320 engine.
No STC needed apparently.... cost used to be in the $900 range
if you shipped the 4 cylinders to them..... This price is less than the
amount that Lycoming just lowered their list price by, so if you are buying
new cylinders......

does anyone have some good information about the performance gains with the
Powerflow exhaust on a Tiger. Has anyone done any cylinder work to improve performance?

1401 lbs.
Can't help you with the Powerflow, but I had to replace all 4 cylinders
this fall (exhaust valve guide wear). I had the new ones ported &
polished at Lycon. It most definitely makes a difference. My Cheetah has
the 61" pitch Sensenich prop that FletchAir sells, and the HC mod. It'll
do 131 KTAS in cruise at 4500' at redline, and there's still plenty of
throttle left. I gained about 150 FPM climb with the new cylinders, too.
