I will be moving my '76 Tiger to Dayton, OH later this spring and am looking
for either a good place to tie down/hangar or a club that is interested in
leasing it. Otherwise it'll be at the Wright-Patterson Aero Club but not as
a rental aircraft. They fly P-types exclusively.

Remember when I said the landing gear (main gear) was fractured? Well, I
got it out. The way it's installed is sure a poor design. If done by the
book, the wing needs to come off. There is ONE bolt that is in the way. I
used a die grinder to trim off the corner of the bolt so I could get the bolt
removed that held the gear leg in place. It's going to be interesting putting
it back together.
OK, on the gear, there is a 3/16 inch steel plate used to assist the
springyness of the landing gear. Well, besides the gear leg being fractured,
this
plate is bent. Not much, but it's bent. Someone dropped this plane out of
the sky from a pretty good altitude. Nothing in the log books; naturally.
While I have everything apart, all of the steel parts are going to be cad
plated, the axle will be anodized and chem-film plated. The steel parts will
also be powder coated. I just couldn't pass on the opportunity to clean up the
parts once I got them off the plane.

Gary... can you still get cad. plating done in CA?
I'm can't seem to find anyone in Tucson that will still cad. plate.... I
guess the cadmium is a big groundwater pollutant, and no-one wants the
liability. I think they replaced it with nickel plating.
gil in Tucson
... with Tiger N28478 finally back in Tucson from your

I thought you couldn't powder-coat a structural piece like that, because
of the oven temperature ruining the temper? Or does that only apply to
aluminum?

only applies to aluminum. That's why I'm having the aluminum anodized.
