Hartzell has them STC'd for a lot of planes. They just don't have one for=20the Beech Travelaire. That's the plane that has the IO360B1B in it that I want to use on a Cheetah. If the prop were already certified for the engine, it would only take 5-10 years to get it STC'd for the Cheetah, intead of 10-20=20years for the whole process. {tongue-in-cheek, but you get the jist of it. The FAA isn't hear to make flying safer, they are here to make it more expensive.} ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 10:05:08 AM PST US From: Bruce Smith Subject: Re: TeamGrumman-List: MT Props --> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: Bruce Smith Gary, Are you suggesting that the FAA is the government equivelant of the (insect) tick??? On the prop issue, MT does have a newer scimitar blade design. I've not seen the specs, and don't know if they plan on offering it on the electric hub, but from the picture on the website, the airfoil appears to be more modern. One other advantage of the constant speed prop is that on final approach, where the pilot pushes the prop into flat pitch (or with the MT, toggles it to flat pitch) in the event of a go-around, drag goes up. The blade is at fine pitch, presenting the most surface area to the wind. Perhaps with 3 blades, some of the floating aspect of the Tiger's landing characteristics on a hot day can be eliminated. Not that I've ever had a Tiger float on landing.......... And if they make it expensive enough all the little guys will just quit flying certified planes and they won't have to be bothered with us anymore. They can just spend all their time with the airlines, part 135 operators and approved repair stations, which is just about what they are doing now. The EAA and the homebuilt movement will become even bigger. Just wondering, what is the advantage of owning and flying a certified plane anyway?
