Its on the bottom of the airfoil, even with the front spar, and just on the outboard portion of the rib. The ding is about 1.5 inches long, and the outward-most half inch or so has a hole about 1/8"-1/16" wide, all the way through the skin. Further, the portion where the hole is just forward of the spar. My mechanic doesn't think we can form a repair as spelled out in the Service manual, since the doubler on the inside would be under the spar and rib. I could provide pictures if necessary. My obvious question is: "What are my options?" I've got a purple glue era plane, so the stab has some riveted repairs for delamination. Would this be a good time to cut my losses and replace the entire stab? Are there still spare or serviceable stabs out there to be had? Or, is there a repair possible that we weren't creative enough to think of? Any help would be appreciated, Steven Jackson '75 AA-1B (O-320) Serial # 0534 N1434R L22 Yucca Valley, CA
