I noticed in the parts manual it shows both a blast tube and the plate that covers it. First question is what situations call for an alt blast tube and which do not. Second, when installing the blast tube, what is most commonly used as the flange. My mechanic said he's got 3/8" SCAT for tubing on his, but I can't find a ready-made 3/8" flange anywhere. Any recommendations? I also have my CFI insurance, my Renter's insurance, and my legal insurance thru AOPA/Global/AIG. When I stuck my Yankee in the vineyard, I was contacted by AIG for the details and follow up activity. AIG provided the adjuster who ultimately totaled the airplane. The claim was handled very promptly and very professionally. I'm completely satisfied with my relationship w/AIG directly. I subsequently bought another airplane and called AOPA for a quote. AOPA/Global refused to insure my new airplane because I had filed a claim. The mechanical failure was interesting, but not relevant as they don't insure people that file claims. What am I missing here?? It has a happy ending because I then called AIG directly and they provided good coverage at the normal, unreasonable, price. However I'm confused about my relationship with the AOPA Insurance program at the moment. What is the benefit here? They also wanted $2500 a year. I passed on their offer. I flew for 3 years without insurance. ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 11:28:42 PM PST US From: TeamGrumman@aol.com Subject: Re: TeamGrumman-List: CS prop --> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: TeamGrumman@aol.com In a message dated 6/22/04 2:58:17 PM, res02p3h@verizon.net writes: > Gary, > > Now that the owner of the Tiger that you installed the three-blade MT > constant-speed prop has had it for a while, are there any new > observations to report? The second owner of the MT-Prop, Ned Thomas, isn't as happy with his performance. ________________________________ Message 6 _____________________________________ Time: 11:37:02 PM PST US From: TeamGrumman@aol.com Subject: Re: TeamGrumman-List: Alternator blast tube --> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: TeamGrumman@aol.com In a message dated 6/22/04 2:50:53 PM, steven.jackson14@adelphia.net writes: > My old baffles had a plate over the alternator blast tube location.=A0 I > noticed in the parts manual it shows both a blast tube and the plate that > covers it.=A0 First question is what situations call for an alt blast tube and > which do not.=A0 Second, when installing the blast tube, what is most commonly > used as the flange.=A0 My mechanic said he's got 3/8" SCAT for tubing on his, > but I can't find a ready-made 3/8" flange anywhere. > I've measured temps in the engine compartment near the mags. I don't see where additional cooling is needed. The 4-seater just has a 1/2 inch hole behind the mag, in the baffle.
