3/8" sounds awfully small. I bet he meant 5/8" as that is the smallest size
that I have seen available for sale in CAT or SCAT ducting. Aircraft Spruce
sells aluminum flanged ducts but they list 1" as the smallest dia. Someone
should have some smaller ones though. Find the cover with blast tube for
attaching to the alternator (probably about 5/8" and then match the ducting
and inlet duct to that.

So far the AIG quote is $2200 for myself, CFI w/over 1000 hrs of tailwheel
time, and my partner, PPL w/200ish hrs, 0 tailwheel. He can't carry
passengers until he has 10 hrs of solo time in the Decathlon. I'm pretty happy
with
that.
