Jamey, the FAA only requires 3-point light. On the stock Grumman, the
strobes and rotating (flashing) beacon served that purpose. From much more than
a
couple of hundred yards, the stock beacon is nearly impossible to see.
Fletcher has the flush fit rudder cap and you can replace the beacon power supply
and associated wiring with a tail strobe/nav light combo that does the makes
the FAA happy. Much cleaner install too.
As for the aileron, it's one of those things that you'd probably want to
replace. I wouldn't try to fill it. The aluminum is very thin and it would
flex and pop out the filler; probably not in the first year or so, but it won't
last.
I have a dent in my left flap. I need another one of those too.

My number 3 cylinder runs hotter than all the rest. I partially blocked #1
to see if I could move air to the back and heat #1. While this helped, it
didn't help all that much.
OK
With #1 partially blocked, I would watch #3 until it peaked (it always got
hotter faster than the other three) and then added full rich, carb heat,
anything to get the temps back down.
Then I filed out the flashing in the fins on #3 and #1 became the first to
peak. So, I unblocked it. On a flight from Auburn to Lancaster yesterday #3
consistently ran 25 degrees hotter than all the rest. Filing the flashing
out of the fins helped, but not as much as I would have liked.
By-the-Way, I flew down from Auburn in loose formation with a Traveler.
Roughly 112-120 knots ground speed the whole way. I burned just 7.7 gallons an
hour and the traveler burned just 7.2 gallons per hour.
Why the big difference? Like I said, loose formation. I had to make a few
big circles and pass him at 150+ knots every once in a while just for the
hell of it. One time I had about 2000 feet on him and pushed the nose over to
165 knots airspeed to pass him.

I have a Whelen, but, Aero Flash has one too. I thinking you can mix and
match the stobes light themselves and the power supplies.

I just called Fletchair today about strobe power supplies. The OEM power
supply was an Aeroflash. They have the same one for $108. Spruce has it
for $102.
There's a guy at my field who just bought an AA-1B. His has the light up on
the tail, but its a strobe light instead of a beacon. Looks much better.
I'm considering that as a short term solution until I get strobes all
around...
