Just got back from a 7500 mile trip to Nova Scotia, etc. so have been off
the gang and Team Grumman for 3+ weeks.
No, I'm not moving to CA (I couldn't afford to live there).
From what I have seen, most O-320 conversions use the G-25 battery, even
when it is moved behind the baggage area. I will work fine and the G-35 is
just excess weight in my opinion. Apparently the person doing the
conversion was worried about not having enough cranking capacity with the
G-25 and long cables. If you want a firewall battery use the stock G-25 and
battery box/mounting configuration.

Cliff.... if you are going for a Field Approval anyway, why not use a 15
lb. Odyssey battery?
It can be mounted in any orientation except inverted...

Odyssey is a good battery, albeit a bit expensive. It would require a field
approval, whereas the O-320 engine conversions that I am aware of allow the
battery to be mounted either fwd. in the stock location or aft to compensate
for a fwd. CG. There is no field approval required if the STC allows this
and the battery could be relocated fwd. even if it was originally located
aft.
