As you say, reducing the spillage drag some more will also help the airspeed increase. If I remember correctly, I believe the spillage drag is probably a larger percentage of the total cooling drag than the parasite drag from the inlet surface area. There is a very fine balance between optimizing the spillage, parasite drag and the delta P you need to achieve for proper cooling. I applaud your efforts and am looking forward to the results. I have been debating about upgrading from a Cheetah to a Tiger to get more speed, but now I see some promising options for increasing the speed on the Cheetah. Have you looked into some of the low speed aero codes available from NASA. They maybe of benefit, but you may be at the point where experimentation is what is needed to "tweak" it in there. I was wondering what was involved in replacing the instrument panel in Travis's Tiger. You did a beautiful job on it. Did you completly remove the old panel? Did you utilize any AG5B stuff like the air vent tube? Did you happen to make any pattterns for making another similar panel or have a CAD file for the panel cutout? It's made of 090 6061 T3 Alum. The vents are custom made using 4 eyeball vents ($400 total) and custom mounting from the NACA vent. I used 4 separate 2 inch hoses. No patterns. It was a one-off replacement. The original panel had been cut up so much that it looked like swiss cheese. I tried a number of patches before trying the one and only OEM AG5B panel I had. Then, decided to make my own. The holes were hand fitted. There is less than .008 difference between the height and or spacing of any hole for mounting or instruments. I really spent way too much time on it. ============== In a message dated 1/30/05 5:39:42 PM, 923te@cox.net writes: > Hi Gary, > > I have a '76 Cheetah that I'm thinkng about restoring.
