My current engine has the same 920 hours on it that my '79 airframe does and is starting to show it's age a bit. Regretably this means a the mid-time overhaul. Of course I could look at it as my engine going to twice Lycomings overhaul spec of 12 years for a glass is half full viewpoint;) I'd like to have an engine ready to swap in by maybe November/Dec (a little before my annual is up but to keep the down-time to the winter months). I have no reason to suspect that Lycon would do anything but a completely top-notch job from everything Gary has told me and everything I've read (Aviation Consumer last month). I certainly appreciate your feedback on them. Did you do the port/polish? If so, how do you feel about the results of that? If we wanted an engine by the end of Nov. '05 then having them start in Aug./Sep. would make sense right or are they going to need more time to find a core? Is the $10k just for the new (to me but run-out) core or is that a standard deposit deductable from their standard overhaul rate. Can Ken (e)mail me a quote with the various deposits and costs broken down? I'll just call him today to ask for such. BTW: You're cowl 65% cruise numbers look great. That Innodyn company which makes those small turbines you're a fan of has a good web-site now if you haven't seen it. Imagine the fun you could have making a cowl for one of those:) www.innodyn.com Thanks! He can build a new one from scratch for about $2000 more than an overhaul. If he built the engine now, he would not run it until we are ready for it. Gary
