BTW, mine are definitely metal but I just ordered the rubber from Fletch.
They said that the plugs on the fuselage by the front cowl are supposed to
be metal and they don't have a rubber replacement for them. They also said
that these metal plugs are the same as those used on the landing gear (like
each side of the nose for axel access). This just seems odd to me as I'd
think on the landing gear the rubber ones would be far less prone to coming
loose and falling out. If you know of a replacement rubber part for the
landing gear please let me know.
Also, I asked Fletch about my cabin heat knob and they said it was more
likely the flapper mechanism that was exerting pressure on the cable and
pushing the knob out a bit and that we should take a look at this next time
I'm in (summer's almost over anyway so the heat won't hurt). Does this jive
with your understanding or do you think there's something else?
Thanks!
Jamey

in re Ca Fly-ins--apropos of nothing Georgetown is open again with a classy
newly paved runway-We could do a picnic hike (trail starts at runway) flyin,
and us lowlanders could practice our landings at a kind of challenging
mountain runway. How about Sept 25 ? I'll put this on Grumman Gang too

A lot of guys put a small S curve in the cabin heat control cable right
where it enters the cable housing. This gives it enough friction to keep it
closed.

I don't know the names of the cables. I replaced the 17 inch Studio Display
with a flat panel monitir and put everything back into the original box that
the monitor came in. What ever cables came with the monitor are in the box.

The plugs on the side of the fuselage and the wheel pants ARE metal. I
haven't found a problem with the metal plugs falling out of the wheel pants.
The
rubber plugs on the ailerons are "supposed" to provide a bit more of a water
seal so water doesn't get into the aileron. THe rubber tends to get dry and
shrink and crack. Not so sure they keep the water out. On my Cheetah, I
put a piece of black tape over the hole. It lasted a long time.

Sep 25 would be great. I think I have a customer coming in on the 25th, if
she gets here early, I'll bring her.

Sure. This bulletin board really has no rules. Unlike the other one. In
fact, if you want to post jokes here, post away. If you want to ask if
someone on here knows so-and-so, that's OK too. In fact, unlike getting booted
off the 'gang' for posting Merry Christmas, or Happy Hannakuh, or ??? like I
was a few years ago, you can wish a happy birthday or greetings to anyone you
like. This list is for adults, read by adults, posted to by adulats and
regulated only by those who wish to participate.
Neita, feel free to use this -list to post any event, BBQ, fly-in, drag race,
pool party, or anything you think we'll be interested in. If someone
doesn't like what you post, he/she/it can unsubscribe.
Thanks for participating.

I was booted off the "other" board once for talking about Insurance once. I
guess Insurance was not "Grumman Specific" ..........
