Anyone from the San Fran area recommend the best airport to use if I'm going
      to Alameda, CA? Hayward?

      Hi Steve,

I'm based at Hayward - it's only an 11-mile drive from downtown Alameda.
Oakland's a little closer, but Hayward's not quite as busy.

      Best, Cory

I always fly into Oakland if I need to get somewhere on the East Bay.

Last week, I did an annual on a Tiger that had an automotive air filter in
it. I would think that there should be some kind of legal liability, but, the

mechanic never entered anything in the logs saying the air filter was changed.

No enties at all in the engine logs back to 2000.
      -----------

Today. I took out an air filter that was decomposing. Pieces of the foam
element were plastered against the screen on the inlet to the carb. I can only

inagine the pieces that got but the screen. According to the logs, Cliff
Hanson installed it in 2001. Some 700+ hours ago. The annuals since then are

so vague and incomplete that, for all practical purposes, they are
      meaningless.

The owner had done the last oil change. The safety wire had about 2 inches
of loose wire and was tied to the wrong side.

All of the hoses and wires are, it appears, routed to intentionally make ANY
maintenance as difficult as possible. The oil cooler hoses are plumbed to
the wrong side of the oil cooler. The fuel hoses are plumbed to the right side

of the carb as opposed to the left side. The fuel flow transducer was
mounted wrong. The prop was installed wrong. The plane is filthy. There is

      oil and dirt everywhere.

The owners don't appear to care what kind of maintenance and attention this
plane is given as long as it's cheap. The owners, all three of them, don't
appear to be too concerned for their safety.

Oh, yea, flying the plane to Auburn, the #2 com didn't work. The intercom
was noisy. The GPS data base was 1998 and wouldn't stay locked on.

I won't be doing a second annual on this plane. I won't polish a turd.

      Gary
