For now I covered it with some vinal as a temporary fix. I know Fletchair sells them (the original). Is there a way I could see your eyebrow before I make the desicion to purchase? Have you sold one to a Grummanite in the Mid-Atlantic area? Maybe I could eye one over. "Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia." (Charles Schultz) Steve Roberts AA-1B N9664L @ ILG Hi Ned, yes I did get your message. To be honest, I forgot all about the call. I am making the STC for either material so that I can make either. Right now, they are going to be made out of fiberglass. Carbon would add about $1000 to the material cost. if you want a cowling (or two) send in some deposits. Once the STC is approved, I need to raise the cost to recover my costs over about a five year period. I figure that most of the planes getting the cowling will have them within 5 years. I sold 300 eyebrows in the first 2 years. I average about 4 a year now. I'm still amazed at how many people have never heard of them or seen one. If you want a carbon fiber cowling, I can make one for you. How much weight savings might there be by going carbon? 10-20lbs might be worth it, although with a lightweight starter too the CG might end up farther aft than desireable. I'd be interested in the numbers before you lay up my cowl. -Brian N119ST ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 07:23:04 AM PST US From: FLYaDIVE@AOL.COM Subject: TeamGrumman-List: Re: (no subject) --> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: FLYaDIVE@aol.com In a message dated 12/14/2005 2:38:47 AM Eastern Standard Time, TeamGrumman@aol.com writes: we would be using pre-preg. The stock cowling weighed about 32 lbs. I just talked to Dave (Composite Dave), he'll get back to me on how much weight we can save. He also told me the cowling takes about 20-25 yds of material. Dave is working on the Predator in Mississippi. It's all carbon fiber.
