It's foggy and cold. My instrument rating is Just six months old. This miserable weather Is not a deterrent. I've flown six approaches, Done holding, I'm current! I've flown in the soup, Just me and the dials, A fabulous feeling, Face wreathed in smiles! Now it's off to the airport In happy pursuit of a Clearance northbound, Tower enroute. I call for the clearance, The tower replies: Clear destination, But clouds in the skies. I fire up the engine, Magnetos on LEFT. My taxi control is Balanced and deft. I run through the checklist Attention can't flag. I want no surprises When we get in the clag. I check all the gauges, Program the 430, Leave nothing to chance For the weather is dirty. Now that I'm ready in Muscle and sinew, I call up the tower, Prepared to continue. The tower is happy To send me right off, "One niner right, Clear to takeoff." I lock up the canopy, Turn on the light, Mixture full rich. Transponder set right. Firewall the throttle. The static is good. I'm rolling in actual! The heck with the hood! I rotate at sixty. What could be neetah* Than an IFR ticket and An IFR Cheetah? *Some authorities prefer "sweetah." Happy New Year Everybody (and hope you had a Merry Christmas)! I have my old Narco AT150 (with a fresh overhaul) sitting in my garage. I was gonna put it up on ebay but if its the same model as your's maybe that would be less expensive? My old avionics shop paid $350 to overhaul it after they broke off a knob on it when they removed it to intall my garmin transponder. -Vi On 12/27/05, Jim Hall wrote: > --> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: "Jim Hall" > > [Rejected by the GG] > > 'Tis the night before Christmas. > It's foggy and cold. > My instrument rating is > Just six months old. > > This miserable weather > Is not a deterrent. > I've flown six approaches, > Done holding, I'm current! > > I've flown in the soup, > Just me and the dials, > A fabulous feeling, > Face wreathed in smiles! > > Now it's off to the airport > In happy pursuit of a > Clearance northbound, > Tower enroute. > > I call for the clearance, > The tower replies: > Clear destination, > But clouds in the skies. > > I fire up the engine, > Magnetos on LEFT. > My taxi control is > Balanced and deft. > > I run through the checklist > Attention can't flag. > I want no surprises > When we get in the clag. > > I check all the gauges, > Program the 430, > Leave nothing to chance > For the weather is dirty. > > Now that I'm ready in > Muscle and sinew, > I call up the tower, > Prepared to continue. > > The tower is happy > To send me right off, > "One niner right, > Clear to takeoff." > > I lock up the canopy, > Turn on the light, > Mixture full rich. > Transponder set right. > > Firewall the throttle. > The static is good. > I'm rolling in actual! > The heck with the hood! > > I rotate at sixty. > What could be neetah* > Than an IFR ticket and > An IFR Cheetah? > > *Some authorities prefer "sweetah." > > Happy New Year Everybody (and hope you had a Merry Christmas)! > > Jim Hall > N9744U > Do not archive > > ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 09:02:03 PM PST US From: TeamGrumman@AOL.COM Subject: TeamGrumman-List: Cowling: Hole --> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: TeamGrumman@aol.com Vi, good news, I was in Lancaster, no that not the good news, the good news is that I watched Dave laying up the first hole. It looks a lot more complex than I expected. He is going to send it to me to see if it'll fit into the cowling. If it does, then I'll send it to you. Gary
