Elslip > N5777L > N5873L =========================== Exactly Robert: That is why I posted and asked the question: "Is it the Japanese Alternator?" Their alternator is about the size of a softball and has an output between 75-100 Amps. If it is not this alternator than all Plane Power managed to do is get yet another Old Style Automotive alternator past the eyes of the FAA. And of course if it is the old style then the FAA is not putting their collective necks on the chopping block! Now all Plane Power has to do is wait for the word "NEW" to hit the eyes of the unsuspecting and 'bing-bang-boom' they got YOUR money. And ya gots to ask yourself: What is the definition of light weight? What are they comparing it to? Too bad the FAA is not as discriminatory as the FDA when food is called "Reduced Fat"! How do you spell it ... Caviet-emptor? Now, can you blame me for being so syndical? Barry "Chop'd Liver" PS If you want to experiment ... J.C. Whittny has high output,100 - 240 Amp alternators that sell for $345 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 07:58:34 AM PST US From: "HalB" Subject: Re: TeamGrumman-List: Re:Lightweight Alternators - Not THAT Lightweight --> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: "HalB" I bought one also and I may be wrong but I don't remember them being advertised as light weight. Lighter which by your statement is true, but there is more to it than just weight, if you look at it closely it is new in design over the oem with better internal coolling smaller frame and better mounting design and above all the folks that sell them are truly there to help you and will. I have delt with Kelley Areospace alternators (3 years 3 alternators)and feel this is a better mouse trap, maybe not perfect but better IMO.
