Now that I'm back I'm not getting any messages, has the list moved to another site or something?? Thanks, Dave McKnight AA5B N880DM ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 01:20:00 PM PST US From: TeamGrumman@aol.com Subject: TeamGrumman-List: Has the list moved? ---- Cowling Update --> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: TeamGrumman@aol.com No, the list is still here. It's a quiet list. Only really important stuff is discussed here. If you want to know how much air to put in your tires or how long between oil changes or review the same discussions from last year, you can find that stuff on the Grumman Gang. OK, how do I really feel? It looks like I'll be getting the drawings for the cowling sometime next week. I'm having 5 cowlings made. Plus, I'm making new side panels that modernize the look of the interior. Plus, I'm getting the pieces together to mock up new wheel pants. Plus, I'm working on new carbon fiber wingtips that weigh about half of the fiberglass ones. On the subject of the initial cowling sale, after the paperwork gets submitted to the FAA (via the DER), the offer to sell the cowlings for $6,000.00, is going bye-bye. So far, I've sold 2 cowlings. Both customers want the cowling and are willing to wait out however long it takes. No kidding. I might be able to fly down from Washington State for installation. Wasn't your original reason for developing the cowl a notion that LoPresti was too expensive? Maybe I'm not remembering correctly. It's been quite a long road since then, as you well know. -Doug ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 11:04:45 PM PST US From: TeamGrumman@aol.com --> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: TeamGrumman@aol.com In a message dated 2/11/06 4:30:47 PM, dougilg@comcast.net writes: > So the cost for subsequent cowlings will be much higher than $6000?=A0 Wasn't > your original reason for developing the cowl a notion that LoPresti was too > expensive?=A0 Maybe I'm not remembering > correctly.=A0 It's been quite a long road since then, as you well know. > >=A0 -Doug > I guess I don't understand the question. LoPresti doesn't make a cowling.=20 A replacement cowling is not available for an AA5x. A used cowling for an AA5x is extremely rare. I never intended to complete with LoPresti for the nosebowl. A description of the cowling I am making is on my web site. Thanks for your interest. Gary
