I guess I was hoping for the rumored "Aurora" to be more like Bill Sweetman's concept. Single Stage to Sub-Orbit. Powered by a methane slurry type fuel. After about 6 events, the press started to ask a lot of questions and the testing went away. I worked a few black programs over the years. I've been out of it for almost 9 years now. Do I miss it???? Not at all. My son, a Force Recon Marine, has never told me what he does in........... the Middle East. However, while my wife and I were visiting him at Camp Pendleton last spring, one of his friends joked that they were the real Jack Bauers. Gary, Interesting. High Mach like Mach 6? Yup, thats "aurora". Powered by four or six Pulse Detonation Wave Engines (PDWEs), fuelled with liquid methane. As air breathers, these PDWEs could theoretically propel a hypersonic aircraft towards Mach 10 at an altitude in excess of 180,000 feet!!! On a flight back to KJFK from KLAX I saw something SCREAM across my right window. Im talking fast guys and gals. greg ________________________________ Message 8 _____________________________________ Time: 12:58:52 PM PST US From: Gpav72@AOL.COM Subject: Re: TeamGrumman-List: Is this possible --> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: Gpav72@aol.com Anyway, not really Grumman related. Maybe if Gary strapped one of those PDWE's onto a tiger then we would have something to talk about.
