As a matter of curiosity, in developing installation instructions is there a difference between installing 5 cowlings or installing 1 cowling 5 times? Scott, N28339 tscott165@cableone.net

Apparently, you've never purchased and tried to install, say, window side mouldings for example. I have never seen side mouldings installed correctly by the average airplane owner. Look at the pictures of the Cheetah advertised on GG. The rear side mouldings are installed OVER the seat belt mountings. Not only that, they weren't trimmed properly around the cabin entrance. There are no instructions that come with the trim. The cowling is made in tooling that is larger than the part. It is done this way so that the fiberglass can be layed up properly at the edges. There are scribe lines in the tooling, but, they are only for reference. One of=20the hardest parts on the cowling installation will be fittiing the baffles and baffle seals around the inlets. Most installations have a 1 inch or greater gap between the baffle and the cowliing. The gaps on mine are very tight (3/8 inch) on the side that doesn't move much, and a 1/2 inch on the other side.=20 I can just see someone installing the cowling and having CHTs in the 450s or higher because they didn't install the cowling and baffles correctly. Then all the bitching and moaning that would take place ...... Gary

The problem is the intake. I need to come up with a way to work around the Cheetah carb inlet. As soon as I get the wheel pants done, and maybe the wing tips, I'll start working on a solution to the carb inlet on the Cheetah. Why will I do the Traveler first? Because I think I can modify the Traveler air box to make it work with my cowling a lot easier than I could the Cheetah air box. Well, I'm off to change a flap switch and then repaint a firewall.
