A national testing lab did a burn test on a sample of my cowling: 2000 degrees for 5 minutes. It passed! Next step is the 4 flight tests. Cross your fingers. Gary, Congratulations on your cowling progress. I hope your flight tests go well. I'm not sure how I feel about the high dive speeds you've mentioned. You may give me a number of reason why it won't matter, but I would consider doing these tests over the valley for maximum AGL separation, and, frankly, wearing a parachute. What the FAA is making you demonstrate is absurd. Did you get my message about swapping out your Garmin 430 card for my more recent one? If you confirm your mailing address, I'll send it to you. What happened to the rest of the Tiger? I have two complete cowlings from new cowling installations. Hi Bill I've already had the plane to 225 mph. It's really pretty easy. When I was in the brown town a few weeks ago I swapped data bases with Chuck. I will, however, take you up on that offer next time. Well, I won't be updating any more of the non WAAS cards, can't with the new service, and the new cards are not interchangeable. My old card which expires this month or next will be it. Sounds like your arrangement with Chuck is working for you. I will probably try to sell both of my non WAAS cards on the Gang once I see what new replacement units are going for. I guess 225 in MPH is not too excessive. Bill Hi Bill I've already had the plane to 225 mph. It's really pretty easy. When I was in the brown town a few weeks ago I swapped data bases with Chuck. Its still flying. The old one just had some small cracks in the bottom of it and I found one that had no cracks so I purchased that one and replaced it. ----- Original Message ----- From: G Vogt To: teamgrumman-list@matronics.com Sent: Saturday, February 23, 2008 3:45 PM Subject: Re: TeamGrumman-List: Lower cowling, Muffler What happened to the rest of the Tiger? 225 was easy. Power back, nose down from 10,000 ft. By 8,000, easy.
