Subject: | Fuel tank update |
I seem to have my own blog going. =C2-
I tried the dental floss. =C2-One strand didn't last very long. =C2-4 st
rands, I was able to cut into the sealant. =C2-Let's say, on a 1 to 10 sca
le, the floss was a 5. =C2-It worked, but, not that well. =C2-
Then I tried a piece of belt sander sand paper. =C2-This stuff is only 1/4
inches wide. =C2-I put the smooth side against the=C2-
spar and used the edge to cut the sealant. =C2-It wasn't easy, I'd give it
a 7 in the difficult department. =C2-But, it did work quite well. =C2-I
was able to cut through about 5 inches in an hour. =C2-Then, I could pick
out the sealant with forceps. =C2-
I've got about 35 hours in the tank so far. =C2-It looks pretty clean now.
=C2-The only area left is the area adjacent to the spar and wing skin.
=C2-This is only an area about 5 sq inches on the top of the spar and 5 sq
inches on the bottom of the spar. =C2-So, somewhere around another 8 hour
s and I'll be able to install the sealant. =C2-
