Subject: | Cowling Flight Test |
Finally. =C2-It's only been 8 years in the making. =C2-
The FAA issued the TIA authorizing the flight on 11/7/08. =C2-It took unti
l 11/13/08 for them to assign a flight test pilot.=C2-
We did the climb performance and climb-cooling tests today. =C2-
Due to the correction factors for the climb-cooling test, I won't know if th
e temps stayed under the 500 degree limit when corrected to 100 degrees F.
=C2-From what I saw, there were only a couple of readings over 400 degrees
. =C2-Most were in the mid to high 300 degrees. =C2-The uncorrected acce
ssory temps were around 140 degrees. =C2-The alternator was never over 50
degrees higher than OAT. =C2-
The average climb rate to 12,500 feet was in the 550 fpm range for two climb
tests. =C2-
Keep your fingers crossed.
