Subject: | more bending of the vertical horizontal braces |
I found some more bending of the vertical braces. =C2-I can't, for the lif
e of me, figure out what makes it bend. =C2-The stub spar is rigidly attac
hed to the horizontal and the horizontal is pretty stiff in that are. =C2
-I can't picture how it would bend. =C2-I mocked up this donor plane I h
ave and I can't see how it could possible bend . . . =C2-especially enough
to deform those vertical braces. =C2-I'm getting close to having enough t
ime to bond the new braces I designed into place. =C2-Calculations show th
e vertical braces to be 200% stiffer. =C2-Plus the material is a lot less
prone to cracking; i.e., 5056-H3. =C2-The horizontal brace I designed is a
bout 600% stronger. =C2-My parts have more in common with the original AA5
horizontal (forward) attachment than the later design. =C2-
I'm also using the donor plane to see if a tail dragger is feasible. =C2-
