Sadly, I won't be able to go to Red Deer this year. I've got too much
work this summer. Thanks for sorting out the charts for those going.
I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

Subject: TeamGrumman-List: Canadian charts for Red Deer

I just ordered some Canadian charts from these guys in Toronto:
http://www.fedmaps.com/aero_charts.htm
Government prices, estimated delivery 7-10 days. Faster service is
available
(FedEx, Purolator) if you want it.
But which charts?
NavCanada's diagram shows where the charts are, but it's hard to tell
the
exact coverage. So I made a diagram of my own, and put it here:
http://newlangsyne.com/etc/CanChartOverlay.gif
The graphic quality is poor but the information is there.
According to the Canada Flight Supplement (like our AFD), Red Deer is
on BOTH
the Calgary and Edmonton VNC (sectional) charts.

Note that if you are going further West (I am...:^) then the
Vancouver charts (both Sectional and Terminal, or VNC and VTA, eh)
are due to be re-issued in July 2009.
http://www.navcanada.ca/NavCanada.asp?Content=ContentDefinitionFiles%5CPublications%5CAeronauticalInfoProducts%5CCharts%5CAeroCharts%5CListOfVFR.xml
The Canadians don't seem to have a day of expiration, just a month
when a new one is issued...
I also found than my regular on-line chart supply house
www.mypilotstore.com in Phoenix has the Canadian charts for $16.50 US
each with no shipping charge.
http://www.mypilotstore.com/MyPilotStore/ChartsCanada/
...and should be quicker than getting stuff from the Canadian govt.
As an aside, I personally find the Canadian charts much harder to
read and interpret than the US ones.
My co-pilot will need much stronger reading glasses to get the fine
print....:^)
Sorry to hear you are not going Gary, but we are planning a stop in
Auburn on our way back from Vancouver.
