Gary, Can you give a different reference for the measurement? With the MT prop it's spinner is in a different place than with the Sensenich. I could get a good measurement from the firewall to the Starter ring gear as the entire cowling is off right now. Would that work or? Would be a great time to put on the Jaguar cowl...hint hint On Jul 5, 2009, at 1:46 PM, "David Feinstein" <david@newlangsyne.com> wrote: > > > > 1979 Tiger > different plane from previous post > also 39-3/4" > >

Hi Ned,=C2- Unfortunately, the critical distance for me is the distance from the rear of the hinge to the rear of the spinner backing plate. =C2- I used N28840 for the initial fitting and mock-up of the cowling. =C2-I used N119ST for the flight tests (Brian, I REALLY need the length of your hinge to spinner) and installed the first one on mine. =C2-All of these , to the best of my knowledge, are the same length. =C2- When I installed the cowling on N1976T, I found I had to trim the center hinge by about 1/4 inches. =C2-At the time, I didn't think anything abo ut it. =C2-Now that I'm fitting another cowling, and it's shorter, I'm trying to figure out why. =C2-I finally measured the distance from the firewall to a point on my engine mount and compared it to three other pla nes. =C2- That distance is 1/4 longer on mine. =C2- Please, anyone on Team-Grumman, measure the distance from the rear of the hinge on your cowling to the rear of the spinner bulkhead. =C2-I may ha ve to change the tooling for two different cowlings. For those who did measure and posted, a big thanks. Gary, I stopped by my plane today and measured the cowl dimension. It is 39 3/4". My Tiger is a 1979 #1321. Rick
