Gary, I measured four tigers here on the field at DXR 1978 AA5B s/n 696 39 =C2=BE=9D back of hinge to the back of the spinner backing plate. Note: no sag in lord mounts spinner backing plate distance to cowl equidistant top and bottom. 1979 AA5B s/n 0942 39 =C2=BE=9D ditto 1991 AG5B s/n 10137 39 =C2=BE=9D ditto 1979 AA5B s/n 1250 40=9D - however lord mounts are worn, top of spinner backing plate to cowl face is =C2=BE=9D gap while bottom gap is 3/8=9D. Engine visually sagging. Thanks Rick. =C2- I've received a few calls and emails about the location of the bulkhead. =C2-Let's just say the rear of the spinner where the spinner should be flush with the bulkhead. Thanks. =C2-So far, I've only received one 40 inch measurement. =C2-Th at is weird. -----Original Message----- From: Rick Pollack <rdp123@verizon.net> Sent: Sun, Jul 5, 2009 6:04 pm Subject: RE: TeamGrumman-List: Cowling question: redux > Gary, I stopped by my plane today and measured the cowl dimension. Gary, I hesitated responding before this, because I thought you meant to the rear of the bulkhead where it mates to the crankshaft flange, and I had no way of accurately measuring that without a de-cowl. If you're looking for the measurement from the rear of the cowl hinge to the rear of the spinner (flush with the rear outer edge of the bulkhead) , mine is 40" (pic attached) This is a 2004 AG-5B. Thanks Mike. =C2-I'm glad to hear there are a few other 40 inch measurem ents out there. =C2- I'm going to talk to the cowling fabricator and see how difficult it is to move the forward edge of the cowling opening. =C2-Right now, those with 39 3/4 inch installs will need a special or cut down hinge. =C2- Gary -----Original Message----- From: MikeBabin@aol.com Sent: Mon, Jul 6, 2009 11:47 am Subject: Re: TeamGrumman-List: Cowling question: redux In a message dated 7/6/2009 1:28:09 P.M. The cowling length on my 2005 AG5B is a hair shy of 40 in. Hope this helps. Joe
