Apparently Lowrance is totally out of the aviation business and no longer providing database updates. I am shopping for a replacement. Besides the usual Garmin units does anyone have any experience with the Bendix AV8OR or the Anywhere Map Quadra? I have been looking at the iFly, but just have not figured out how I would mount it, as it is bi gger then the Airmap. I am not ready to pay Garmin prices for a VFR GPS. In the same size frame (or maybe a bit bigger) is the IPad, which has many aviation apps available, but still the same issue of where to mount it?.. .. It seems more porous then glass, and after 20 min it falls off. I would pre fer a more solid mount. If it gets direct sun, the heat will make the small air pocket expand and sometimes pop the suction cup loose.
