The steps were optional equipment on the Grummans as well as many other ite ms. If the part number starts with 580xxxx=2Cl then typically it was an opt ion for the aircraft. Absolutely. Look at your equipment list. The steps are shown as an optional item and can be removed with a log book entry and weight and balance change. How much speed can you pickup by removing the steps and light?...I have been down this road before and found very little result for the money invested...Seriously the steps produce that much drag?...Dick If you want more speed at the same rpm I'd go with the 63" pitch as that was the standard cruise prop. Most typical Tigers can turn 2700 rpm full throttle down low and even higher up. The 62" pitch will turn 30-40 rpm more at full throttle but be 2-3 knots slower or thereabouts. And if you ever take you steps off and go to the flush beacon cap or add a PF exhaust you will want the higher pitch prop for sure. Don't know about the shocks. They have 2004 dates on them. and they aren't broken. they both work. that's rare. If they are the wrong shocks, it came in that way. ________________________________ From: Garner Rice <garnerrice@hotmail.com> Sent: Tue, September 14, 2010 5:33:46 AM Subject: RE: TeamGrumman-List: Project X plane Not sure what no one would ever see, if I cant see it. It might be worth a knot or two to remove the steps. Is it worth it? Probably (k)not. ________________________________ From: dickbutz <dickbutz@therock.bm> Sent: Tue, September 14, 2010 7:55:51 AM Subject: TeamGrumman-List: Re: Props? Not sure how the 2004 dates since Stabilus hasn't supplied them since the 70's. If that is an early AG then all bets are off. I had been trying to ge t them produced since way before 2004. Countless calls to them over in Germ any and finally gave up in 2006 on ever getting them reproduced.
