Subject: | Re: cylinder woes |
-L2C cylinders are listed at a few hundred dollars cheaper than the
-C2C cylinders. What is the difference between them? Can -L2C
cylinders be used on the -C2C engine in the AA1B?

Subject: | Engine Thrust Angle: Page four |
If, for all practical purposes, I get a zero thrust angle (vertical) with 2
shims on the top of both mounts on my Tiger, maybe the factory's zero thrust
angle (vertical) is based on the wing's incidence angle and not the level
fuselage. Just an idea.
Just for shit-n-grins, I checked two other planes today.
Plane #1: (Project X Tiger)
1 shim on each mount.
Using the same inclinometer I measured at the rails at
left rail: 4 degrees up.
right rail: 4 degrees up.
On the engine, measuring the angles
left side: 3.5 degrees up
right side: between 3.5 and 4 degrees up.
The distance to the spinner was the same as mine: 39.875 inches.
Bottom line: not much difference between the airframe and the engine.
====================================================
Plane #2: (Cheetah)
2 shims upper right. 1 shim lower right. No shims on either of the two left
mounts.
left rail: 2.5-3 degrees up
right rail 2.5-3 degrees up
left engine: 2.5-3 degrees up
right engine: 2.5-3 degrees up.
The distance to the spinner was: 39.75 inches.
Bottom line: the engine sits about 1 degree down.
I've included a pic of this. The engine needs a 1/2 shim on the bottom mounts

Interesting thing on the AG5B Project X plane. The cowling is 3/8 inches low
with all the screws in but not tight. It's also off to the left a little.
Pushed up and to the right and then tightening the screws, it's more centered.
I did notice that the cowling behind the spinner is a smaller diameter than the
spinner.
