Subject: | KSAV2011 PRE-CONVENTION FLY-IN |
The following article was recently published in a Grumman related
publication. Also note the pre-convention web site address:
www.ksav2011.com and the e-mail contact: ksav2011@gmail.com. We look forwar
d
to seeing many of you in May. Until then....
Take care,
Wes and Melissa

*(continued from previous posts*/articles)
*Known as "The Hostess City of the South", Savannah, your 2011 convention
pre-flyin destination stands ready to welcome you for a few relaxing days
while you are in our corner of the nation anticipating the KSSI convention.
*
*We've selected The Desoto as our hotel property. Located in the middle of
the historic district, The Desoto is only a leisurely 10 minute walk down
the Bull Street corridor to either River Street or Forsyth Park.*
* Whether on foot, by carriage, moped, bicycle, boat, tour trolley, pedicab
,
segway, seaplane or hearse, Savannah is a tour taking paradise. SEAPLANE OR
HEARSE?!?
In 2002, the American Institute of Parapsychology named Savannah America=92
s
=93Most Haunted City.=94 They determined that based on Savannah=92s history
of
fires, plagues, wars and voodoo that Savannah was the perfect place for
supernatural activity. So hop in a customized hearse for a spooky tour of
the city. Wanna get a higher yet wetter view? When you pull up at the
Sheltair FBO you might notice a Capetown Amphibian on the ramp. Denis will
give you a sky view ride from KSAV down the Savannah River to historic Fr.
Pulaski and back. So sign up for a flight (and bring your log book.)*
*Would you like a slower paced "pub/beer/pint" tour? Down on River Street
you'll find Kevin Barry's Irish Pub,but watch those steps back up to the
bluff. Once up the bluff on Bay Street, grab a local recipe at the Moon Rive
r
Brewery or have them pull you a pint around the corner in City Market at
Molly MacPherson's Scottish pub. Need to keep it closer? Three blocks from
the Desoto is the Crystal Beer Parlor with its famous"beers of our fathers"
selections. Even closer? Have a "beer cocktail" or a seasonal "flight" at
The Distillery. Need to keep it even closer? The Six Pence (British) Pub is
across the street from the Desoto. And for a real dive, Pinkie Master's
Lounge is on the back block of the Desoto.....Hmmm....enter at your own
risk.

*Stay tuned to additional issues of The St*r for more information, and see
the last two editions for previous articles. If you are interested or want
more information e-mail us via: ksav2011@gmail.com or check in at our

I just purchased a 79 Cheetah with the 160 HP engine - I had a 77 Cheetah 23
years ago with 150 HP engine. It was a great airplane, but I cannot remember
how I used to fly it. Landing with or without flaps, Take off with or
without flaps. I'm based @ CPK - Chesapeake Va. - near sea Level. I
appreciate any input. I hope no question is too stupid to ask. Thanks David

Tom, I haven=92t received the Cheetah yet ' should be within the next
few days
weather permitting. I just recall that when flying the previous Cheetah,
I
did not follow the POH for takeoff, I think I used flaps and the POH did
not
call for them. I believe it was something that many members of the AYA
recommended and I tried it and agreed ' but truthfully I do not trust
my
memory. David
