From: Gary Vogt <teamgrumman@yahoo.com> Here are close ups of what the cooling ramp looks like. I don't know what the issue is that Ned Thomas has. He flew away with a completed cowling and baffle installation. He's since made a lot of changes to the cowling that will not conform to the supplemental type certificate design. I notified the FAA ACO and they have called the Oklahoma office. He will need to re-certify the cowling if he decides to fly it. Attached at pics of the cooling exit ramps from my cowling. The last pic shows the nose gear boot fairing being removed. This single change resulted in 25 to 50 degrees higher CHTs. I'm having Dave fabricate a new replacement nose gear boot fairing that I will use to get a new STC for ALL AA5x/AG5B aircraft. My cowling will be the first test case. Gary

Subject: Re: Cooling exit ramp I'm not seeing the issue here. Is someone having a problem or is there a personality conflict? Have looked both sets of pictures and due to poor quality photos cannot clearly determine where the issue is? Did the stc holder call the faa to report the end user? If so, why? I am unable to follow what is happening here. Am interested in the cowl and would like to understand the issues.
