This is the email that got me kicked off the GG for the 6th and final time.

Get that plane to someone who knows what he's doing. Those wings cost $20,000
each to replace.
I find it totally insane, at this point in the game, to still be using mechanics
that have no f&^king clue what they are doing with Grummans.
With the Grumman community as closely knit as it is, I find it absurd that there
are still those who wish to get as cheap of an annual or repair as possible with
no regard for the actual value of the airplane.
Every year I get 4 or 5 new customers who brag about getting annuals for the
last 10 to 15 years for $300 each. Of course, the annual from me costs them
$10,000 to fix everything neglected for 15 years. Then, they go back to the
free-lance mechanic who drive around in his truck and signs off annuals for $300
for the next 10 years.
I'm getting off my soap box.

Gang A friend with a 1978 Tiger has a problem. She has a fuel leak from the
right tank. It is not the petcock (fuel drain) but near it. The mechanic on
the field suggest cutting a hole around the fuel drain, assessing the problem,
and repairing the leak accordingly (whatever accordingly is?). Is this a good
approach? Is there a recommended procedure in the service manual? Any advice
appreciated. Thanks Glen Glen Davis 917 297 1111 www.ishootpictures.com

We don't want bad words on the Internet. We must protect all of the
child Grumman owners.
BTW, my right tank fuel drain started leaking this morning.
I was thinking, while you were changing the left drain, that they were
probably both the same age.

Hi Curt,
Doesn't that figure? I should be at the airport on Wednesday. Stop by and let
me know you're there and we can go change the drain.
