Apparently they seal pretty well as the CHTs are about 300-325F on a pretty hot day. Note the baffle over the top of the engine that seals to the nose bowl, and the wings that deflect the air smoothly around the spinner and inside the plenum. This provides for a "total" seal that is not possible with the stock 2 place baffling, and most likely provides as good of cooling as a fixed plenum over the cylinders. Way to much air on this plane which needs to be throttled to reduce cooling drag. The small original oil cooler with 2" SCAT duct is plenty adequate. Looks like Van's baffle kit. I think the only way you can get those baffles to lay down like that is by carefully installing the cowling and then over time they deform to that shape. I think I sent out some pics baffles on a 2-seater I did. If not. I still like the way my baffles naturally lay down. By conforming them over baffle, they still seal tightly over the baffle. The only way you'll get leaks is by using just 2 or three rivets to hold the seal in place. ________________________________ From: flyv35b Sent: Sun, July 10, 2011 9:20:35 AM Subject: TeamGrumman-List: Emailing: P1060262.JPG, P1060264.JPG, P1060266.JPG, P1000146.JPG, P1010080.JPG, P1060258.JPG, P1060259.JPG, P1060260.JPG Here are some photos of baffling with the seals mounting on the inside (the wrong way according to Gary). I've upgraded it with a 32GB SSD and 2GB of RAM and it's running Windows XP. I've also got Anywhere Map's 12V power supply which will power the Samsung tablet, a WxWorx XM weather receiver, and a variety of 5V USB GPS devices. Also included is an external USB DVD RW drive and a RAM cradle. All parts are in excellent shape and fully functional. I was running Seattle Avionics Voyager with XM weather (Voyager software and WxWorx receiver are NOT being sold with this) on the unit to good success so programs like that or Anywhere Map should work well or if you just want an ultra-portable PC for some reason. Someone on eBay is trying to get $1100 for something comparable with only 1GB memory. It's new but I still think they're on crack. Other's are trying to get $3-500 or so for similar configurations without the SSD and the accessories. I think $700 + shipping is a fair asking price for the package but if you feel differently make a good argument and make it easy for me. Email me for pictures or with questions. I paid $3700 for it. I can't get the oil temp sending unit out of the block. 2 of the 4 CHT probes were damaged during removal The last time I flew it was 40 degrees outside and the display had some segments that didn't come up. I'll sell the whole setup, minus 2 CHT probes and the Oil temp probe, for $2000. ________________________________ Message 6 _____________________________________ Time: 05:56:04 PM PST US From: BILL9725@AOL.COM Subject: Re: TeamGrumman-List: Emailing: P1060262.JPG, P1060264.JPG, P1060266.JPG, P10... Was this done under a one time STC? I like the baffle "over the top". When I get a chance I will take pictures of the mostly stock baffle installation of my narrow deck 0320-A2B after O'H, and when reworking the baffling I reinstalling all the seals on the inside as I ha d always understood was accepted practice. The one major change is the oi l cooler on the front baffle, per the Collier STC. My temps are good. I did not bend the tops of the aluminum baffles, but I do see where any hel p to get clearances to remove plugs is a plus.
