Seems to me that may be Joe Breuer's old Tiger that he sold quite a few
years ago to someone in CA. Was based up at Columbia (I think) for some
time. If so it has the IO-360-A1B6D (?) engine out of an RG Cardinal.
Anyone know what the N-number is?

All of the planes converted to the IO-360 and IO-540 engines started
life as Cheetahs and had the Tiger center spar conversion, bringing the
GW up to 2400lb.

It has a tail strobe. The flashing beacon is useless as a position indicator
at distances over 1/2 mile. Fly with someone behind you and turn off the na
v lights. Odds are, he won't be able to see you.
I came very close to a mid-air collision at Livermore because of a Cessna no
t talking on the radio and turning final right in front of me. I could not s
ee any of his lights. They were lost in the ground clutter.
I haven't had a flashing beacon since 1990.

Most all the photos were of the exterior. It takes more than that to
make a award winning plane. It takes interior, panel and engine
compartment and a lot of attention to detail.

I second that. And if you want to make it simple and save money you can
use the existing beacon switch and wiring to operated the tail strobe
separately.

Brian & Garner:
The answer is: Maybe YES... IF you have THREE (3) Point Strobes... Wing
tips and Tail Cone. Then YES Strobes replace the beacon. Useless thing
anyway.
