Button... There is an automatic "squelch button" of sorts for the Fund Raiser messages. Here's how it works... As soon as a List member makes a Contribution through the Matronics Fund Raiser web site, their email address is automatically added to this year's Contributor List and they instantly cease to receive further Fund Raiser messages for the rest of the month! Its just that simple! :-) I really do appreciate each and every one of your individual Contributions to support the Lists. It is your support that enables me to upgrade the hardware and software that are required to run a List Site such as this one. It also goes to pay for the commercial-grade Internet connection and to pay the huge electric bill to keep the computer gear running and the air conditioner powered on. I run all of the Matronics Email List and Forums sites here locally which allows me to control and monitor every aspect of the system for the utmost in reliably and performance. Your personal Contribution matters because, when combined with other Listers such as yourself, it pays the bills to keep this site up and running. I accept exactly ZERO advertising dollars for the Matronics Lists sites. I can't stand the pop-up ads and all other commercials that are so prevalent on the Internet these days and I particularly don't want to have it on my Email List sites. If you appreciate the ad-free, grass-roots, down-home feel of the Matronics Email Lists, please make a Contribution to keep it that way!! http://www.matronics.com/contribution Thank you! Matt Dralle Matronics Email List Administrator [Note that there are certain circumstances where you might still see a Contribution related message. For example, if someone replies to one of the messages, when using the List Browse feature, or when accessing List message via the Forum. The system keys on the given email address and since most of these are anonymous public access methods, there is no simple way to filter them.]

I always hear locally, the guys say to hold the oil down a half or a quart from full cause it will just puke it out anyway ?? What is the concensus here..I am flying to Killeen Texas this weekend to see my son at Fort Hood and was wanting to top up the oil for a longer than normal trip but ??? I usually am a 1/2 to 1 quart down guy from experience with my previous planes I was familiar with back in the 90's. -------- 1977 AA5B N28454, Fuel Totalizer, Lopresti Nose, Red Rudder Cap, 4 cyl. egt, stock otherwise. Consensus .... here? Ya gotta be kidding!!! For me, I fill to 6 Qts. If I'm worried about a long trip (haven't done that since an overhaul!) I'll carry a Qt in the baggage compartment. Of course, if you want to line the pockets of the FBO they'll be glad to raise the level of your shortfall. :-P Linn On 11/7/2011 5:26 PM, Doug Doty wrote: > --> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: "Doug Doty"<39marinette@gmail.com> > > I always hear locally, the guys say to hold the oil down a half or a quart from full cause it will just puke it out anyway ?? Ok, so far a consensus. 6 Qts for me also and maybe 6.5 if going on a long cross country. Jeff In a message dated 11/7/2011 5:27:31 P.M. I also fill to 6...but after oil change, I'll add 7 since I put on a new oil filter and also had camguard--always see a little on the belly for a few hours. Isn`t this more based on how many hours between adding oil? My tiger on a near new overhaul runs 12-15 hours between adding one quart to keep level between 6-7 qt's. I keep a close watch on oil level and usually add half a quart at a time to keep the level right at the 6 quart mark or slightly above. The frequency of adding oil will vary depending on the amount of oil a particular engine burns per hour. Ours burns about one quart in 9 hours. In a message dated 11/7/2011 5:54:21 P.M. IF you let your engine decide how much it needs, it'll tell you. -I know that sounds a little touchy-feely and maybe too liberal for some of you who want to control how much oil your plane needs, but, seriously, most planes will like around 6 to 6 1/2 quarts. -=0A=0AWhen you change your oil, onl y put in 7 qts. -Fly, watch the oil level. -It will settle down, i.e., stop using oil, somewhere around 6 to 6 1/2 quarts. -=0A=0AIt also depend s a lot on how hard you push it. -Those who regularly fly at 2400-2500 rp m will usually see a higher stable oil level.=0A=0AGary=0A=0A=0A___________ _____________________=0AFrom: Doug Doty <39marinette@gmail.com>=0ATo: teamg rumman-list@matronics.com=0ASent: Monday, November 7, 2011 2:26 PM=0ASubjec t: TeamGrumman-List: Curious about how full to fill oil=0A=0A--> TeamGrumma n-List message posted by: "Doug Doty" <39marinette@gmail.com>=0A=0AI always hear locally, the guys say to hold the oil down a half or a quart from ful l cause it will just puke it out anyway ??
