-------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: TeamGrumman-List: Re: Which plugs for our planes these days From: Gary Vogt <teamgrumman@yahoo.com> I tried cutting the socket down. It hits at the top. Swivels, extensions, yes, there are ways to work around the Tempest plugs. I have a hex adapter that fits into the top of the socket. I can get them out with an 11/16 wrench. Torquing them then becomes a math thing calculating the additional length onto the hex head. Call me lazy. I just like things clean and simple. If you use a "Wright" socket it doesn't need to be cut down! It has full engagement on the Tempest hex and hit the top of the plug on both plugs the same. No difference in installed height or clearance. All sockets are not the same, internal clearance or length. Where's the beef!
