I left out for a trip Friday and it still had about 6.4 or so after the last oil change and I ran it at 2550 both ways about 6 hours and re-checked it this morning after cooling overnight and it was 6.1 so I am going to just keep letting it run down and see what it likes. I am very happy and relieved with the consumption for an 1977 engine with 1890 TT and never had a cylinder off and still has compressions in the 75 to 77 range. This is great news for a guy who recently bought used and only has 8 hours in this recently purchased Tiger. !!!! -------- 1977 AA5B N28454, Fuel Totalizer, Lopresti Nose, Red Rudder Cap, 4 cyl. egt, stock otherwise. When I bought my first plane in 1984 I was neurotic about keeping it at 8 q ts. -After all, each of the planes I rented up to that point was required to be at 8 qts. -=0A=0AOver the next year or so, after cleaning the bell y many, many times, a tie-down neighbor suggested I keep it at 7 qts. -I noticed right away that it took a lot longer to go from 8 qts to 7 qts than it did to go from 7 qts to 6 1/2 qts. - -I gradually let it find its o wn ideal level. -In that Cheetah, it was somewhere between 6 and 6 1/2 qt s. -=0A=0AMy Tiger likes about 6 qts or maybe a little less.=0A=0A=0A____ ____________________________=0AFrom: Doug Doty <39marinette@gmail.com>=0ATo : teamgrumman-list@matronics.com=0ASent: Sunday, November 13, 2011 6:42 PM =0ASubject: TeamGrumman-List: Re: Curious about how full to fill oil=0A=0A- =0A=0AI left out for a trip Friday and it still had about 6.4 or so after t he last oil change and I ran it at 2550 both ways about 6 hours and re-chec ked it this morning after cooling overnight and it was 6.1 so I am going to just keep letting it run down and see what it likes.
