I would like to find the original NACA report for exit scoops. I am curious about the length of the opening on the bottom of the cowl. Some have suggested to make it bigger/longer to increase cooling. I'd like to learn about why the particular NACA exit duct on our Grummans is considered the best design for accelerating the exit air to re-enter the slipstream at the lowest drag penalty.
