The early planes had 40 Amp alternators, and later ones had the "optional" 60 Amp alternator. So you'll see 10 ga on the early 2-place with 40 A alternator, then they changed to 8 ga on them. The 4-place late model planes have 6 ga. If you were to follow 43.13 guidelines for a field approval, you'd find that due to the temp rise from cooling air under the cylinders, you should use 4 ga. wire! --Bob Steward Gary Vogt wrote: >what size is the wire that goes from the alternator to the main buss ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 08:33:25 PM PST US From: Gary Vogt Subject: Re: TeamGrumman-List: wire size question Thanks. -That was perfect.=0A=0A=0A________________________________=0A Fr om: 923TE <923te@att.net>=0ATo: "teamgrumman-list@matronics.com" =0ASent: Wednesday, December 19, 2012 12:40 PM=0ASub ject: Re: TeamGrumman-List: wire size question=0A =0A=0AGary,=0AI remembere d a discussion on this and found it in the archive here=0Ahttp://grumman.ne t/archive/2003/msg06833.html=0A=0ANed=0A=0A=0A=0AOn Dec 19, 2012, at 2:26 P M, Gary Vogt wrote:=0A=0A=0Awhat size is the wire t ====== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message teamgrumman-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/TeamGrumman-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/teamgrumman-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/teamgrumman-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
