Hi Linn:
It looks like an OooPsy cover. It is covering the the cables that goes
down the centerline of the plane to the tail. It is so clumsby people
don't step on them. OooPsy!
But then again the floor sure looks nice - Painted Maybe? So it could be
just a paint shield so the cables and the color coding on them do not
get obliterated. It does look like the spar has a paper cover? But, if
the floor is painted and the cables are not - How come the small area
between the OooPsy cover and the spar - Where the cables show - The cables
are not painted? TRICK PHOTOGRAPHY? And why not paint the spar? UNLESS?
The spar is painted a different color! Gary, are you getting into Fung
Shway and home decorating?
More energy flow through the centerline of the plane could equate to more
forward speed.

I don't know if everyone noticed but there is a modification to the caniste
r vacuum filter installation in the first picture. It is probably one of t
he best things you can do for yourself or your mechanic (it's described on
the AuCountry website). Now if Gary could come up with something for the g
arter vacuum filter I'd be a happy camper.

Roger:
I can't see it... Does it have a Wingnut? Indicating removable from the
inside?
I don't know where I first heard of that - Gary if it was you, THANKS! I
did that after my first Annual 14 years ago. GREAT IDEA!
Now - If you want the Mod for the Garter Filter... EASY.
All you have to do in put a spacer on the INSIDE between the fixture and
the firewall. I did this with a large brass nut - I just happen to have.
All it has to do is give you room to slide on and off the filter. The
only issue is you have to remove ALL the hoses so the fixture is spaced
away from the firewall. NOW - Thinking back. You maybe able to do the
spacing using a piece of heavy wall PVC (Sked 40) and making a 'C' shape
just to snap over feed through part of the fixture. About 3/8" thick.
Two other tricks to get things to fit:
1 - Remove the Sound Proofing around the fixture - It helps a little, or
2 - Flatten it down by installing a thin sheet of aluminum - It also helps
a little.
I went with the EASY method.

Yep, the wingnut is there. I had to click on the pic and zoom-in to see it
. Thanks for the ideas on the other filter.
