It is much more than a new nose bowl. It is an entire cowling wit h very aerodynamic lines and causes much improved cooling of the cylinders a nd likely a noticeable speed improvement. It includes much improved baffles a s well. Check it out at fellow Grumman owner Gary Vogt's website: http://www.aucountry.com/ Welcome to becoming a Grumman owner. Ned Hello Everyone, Aldo & Alli here! New members and owners of Tiger N4527N. The previous owner loved this plane and decided to have it refurbished (avionics, interior, paint, "0" hour rebilt engine) before his passing last year. As Taylor Aviation in Montgomery, NY maintained the plane since 1986, they did the work. This gave us the opportunity to purchase a like new aircraft at a very reasonable cost. In reading everything we can find, an issue with the Lycoming O-360 engine running hot seems to pop up. The issue is not critical, but anecdotal evidence implies this turns the 2000 hour engine into an 1800 hour engine. Solutions that are mentioned are swithching to the Lopresti nose cowl with it's greater air intake (not to mention ease of maintenance) and/or adding an aftermarket oil cooler to the engine. Given the like new condition of the aircraft, are these things worth doing? Does anyone have any idea what these modifications cost?
