I'm troubleshooting Cabin and Map lights not working. -=0A=0AFirst thing I notice is the fuse is blown. -Replaced the fuse. -Nothing.=0ANext, th e lights are burned out. -Replaced the lights. -Nothing. -=0AI remove the plastic cover on the switch. -The power wire, 51LA3, is connected to the map side of the switch, not the middle.=0A- --- fixed that. -Not hing.=0AChecked for power at 51LA3 with the switch off. -12.5 volts.=0ATu rned on Map, then Cabin light. -Nothing. -=0AMeasured power on 51LA3 wi th switch on Map. -0 volts. -=0AChecked the fuse. -Blown. -Replaced . -Still nothing. -=0AI disconnect all of the wires. -I have power on 51LA3. -=0A- - -I connect it directly to the cabin light wire, no. 5 LA5. -Nothing.=0A- - -I connect it to the map light, no. 5LA4. -Not hing.=0AI remove the wire to the side light, powered by the rheostat, wire no. 51LB6.=0AI connect 51LB6 to 5LA4. -Map Light works.=0AI connect 51LB6 to 5LA5. -Cabin Light works.=0AI connect to the middle terminals on the Cabin/Map switch. -Lights work.=0AI measure power on 51LA3. -12.5 volts . -=0AI connect 51LA3 to the side light. -Nothing.=0ADouble check power on 51LA3. -12.5 volts.=0AI leave the VOM on the 51LA3 measuring 12.5 vol ts. -While connected, I attach the side light. -Voltage gradually drops to 0 volts.=0A- - light never comes on. -Double check with Map and Cab in lights. -Same.=0A=0A----->>>>> -With the voltage on 51LA3 measuring 12.5 volts, any attempt to load the circuit with a light drops the voltage to 0 volts.=0A=0AFuse is good. -Power is there. -Doesn't work when ligh t attached.=0A=0AThis is a new one to me. -=0A=0APS, I checked the connec tion on the battery box fuse holder. -It looks OK. -Clock works fine. ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 09:00:45 PM PST US From: Linn Walters Subject: Re: TeamGrumman-List: Weird power . . . Not having a diagram to follow the steps below .... here's a WAG. I suspect that you're missing a ground and the voltage you're measuring is being back-fed somewhere. Check the side light ground.
