Subject: | [PLEASE READ] Why I Have A Fund Raiser... |
>From the beginning, the Matronics List and Forum experience has been free from
advertising. I have been approached by fair number of vendors wanting to tap
into the large volume of activity across the various lists hosted here, but have
always flatly refused. Everywhere you go on the Internet these days, a user
is pummeled with flashing banners and videos and ads for crap that they don't
want. Yahoo, Google and that elk are not "free". The user must constantly
endure their barrage of commercialism thrust into their face at an ever increasing
rate. Enough is enough, and the Lists at Matronics choose not to succumb
to that.
That being said, running a service of this size is not "free". It costs a lot
of money to maintain the hardware, pay for the electricity, air conditioning,
maintenance contracts, etc, etc. etc. I choose to hold a PBS-like fund raiser
each year during the month of November where I simply send out a short email
every other day asking the members to make a small contribution to support the
operation. That being said, that contribution is completely voluntary and non-compulsory.
Many members choose not to contribute and that's fine.
However, a very modest percentage of the members do choose to make a contribution
and it is that financial support that keeps the Lists running. And that's
it. To my way of thinking, it is a much more pleasant way of maintaining the
Lists and Forums. The other 11 months of the year, you don't see a single advertisement
or request for support. That's refreshing and that is a List and Forum
that I want to belong to. I think other people feel the same way.
Won't you please take a minute to make your Contribution today and support these
Lists?

Bill,
Thanks. It's looking a LOT better. It'll be nice.
I ordered the JPI 730. It should be here early next week.
I have a preliminary invoice balance as of today. With the JPI and not
including the rear plastic pieces and installing them, the balance is
$12991.66.
That includes all of your payments so far. The rear seats and carpet were
$700. If possible, I'd like to get at least half of that.
Thanks again.
Gary and Clytie

You are truly working magic. Taking a frog and turning it into a prince
Of course I am proud of the result being the owner but if you can turn this
into what is coming, then any old tiger can begin a new life!
Thanks for the pictures

Figure about 30 to 35 hours to get to this spot. -Seems like forever. -
Quite frankly, after about 5 or 6 hours of tedious trimming, fitting, insta
lling, removing, trimming, fitting, installing and removing I'm exhausted a
nd I have to quit for the day or find something else to work on. -=0A=0AO
nce the basic fitting of the upper cowling is finished, 10 pilot holes for
the cam-locks and 2 pilot holes for nut plates need to be drilled. -Then,
38 pilot holes for the hinge need to be drilled. -Then the upper is fina
l trimmed, then riveted.=0A=0AI'm having Composite Dave make a new master c
owling with simpler exit ramps and better defined trim lines. -Hopefully,
this will decrease install time.=0A=0AOne of the most difficult parts of t
he entire installation process is fighting the urge to trim the fiberglass
and not move the engine.=0A=0ACase in point: -N1540R.-=0AI fitted my or
iginal cowling to a mockup by moving the engine around until the engine fit
the cowling. -Then I pre-fit Sweet 16 to the mockup with the engine set
to my cowling. -The trim lines on the fiberglass and the drew holes were
pretty close; within a few millimeters. -=0A=0AWhen I got N1540R and star
ted fitting the cowling to N1540R, it seemed WAY off. -Adding one thick s
him on the bottom right and one thin shim on the upper left fixed the align
ment. -I really wanted to just trim off an 1/8 inch on one side of the co
wling. -Moving the engine is a pain.=0A=0AAligning and fitting the upper
cowling takes about 5 to 8 hours.=0A=0AGary
