I am stripping and repainting the nose strut. -I removed the wheel pant/w
heel assembly first.=0A=0ANOTE: -Don't 'repair' the notch in the front of
the nose wheel fairing. -It is needed to get access to the nut.=0A=0AAtt
ached is a pic of the castled nut and washers. -I can honestly say, I've
never seen this arrangement.

The Grumman maintenance/service manual for your aircraft has a very good
diagram of how the washers should be reinstalled. It's very important
they are reinstalled correctly or you will probably have a pretty good
shimmy from the nose wheel.
