    I don't think it has much if anything to do with the switch being left on, r ather its due to age, corrosion, and poor quality switches. Ive seen this i n a number of aircraft types. With the low cost of replacement switches, I' d just replace them all for good measure, and while doing so, I'd re-crimp t he female connectors so they make a good connection to the new switches.
