My Tiger has that and I've always understood it was for prote ction on gravel runways. Dan Twice in two days two separate customers (Both have multiple partners ownin g the plane) have called to tell me one of their partners has landed on gra vel runways. Both sustained significant damage to the horizontal. One wil l likely need to be reskinned. ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 08:44:05 PM PST US Subject: TeamGrumman-List: Baffles From: airman@appledumplings.com There is a guy or sheet metal company that made Baffles for the Tiger. I think they where in Alaska or Washington. Does anyone remember the info on this? Poor fit, and do not conform to the type design. Baffles are nothing an owner can't fabricate with basic tools and attention to detail, based on tracing the old parts. Ken Blackman an at Air Mods NW has templates for the original rubber seals and can make you a set. There is a technique for installing them so that they curve in the correct direction to lay nicely with the cowl door. One guy pre-tensions them while the other guy punches holes and installs rivets. The preload makes them curl inwards. On Tue, Jul 15, 2014 at 8:43 PM, wrote: > > There is a guy or sheet metal company that made Baffles for the Tiger. I > think they where in Alaska or Washington.
