hi All, our starboard aileron weight extends into the the airstream about an inch with both ailreons centered on the wing, assuming our holes through the aileron torque tube are misdrilled, what if the " factory approved fix" ? thanks, Cheers Bill Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=436368#436368

This was common on the Mississippi built AG5B,s and there is a factory approved fix. I have a copy of it somewhere, but basically involves gluing and blind riveting an insert in your Aileron torque tube and re drilling it. I think you may be able to get a copy off of either the AYA or Bondline web pages. This repair should be done by someone who knows what they are doing as you could end up with a real mess, ie replacing the entire Aileron torque tube at considerable expense if you screw it up! Bill: The fix is very easy. It requires an aluminum plug and re-drilling and a bit of special LockTite glue. That is easy. Or should I scare you like some others will? Where are you located? Subject: Questions about Aileron Rigging/Flap Down Limit Switch
adjustment/Flap Play and "Flap striker plate?" Hi All, Checking our rigging during annual we have had some issues/question re adjustments available and remedies. Our starboard aileron mass balance weight extends into the airstream about an inch when both ailerons are aligned with the wing training edge. Port side is recessed appropriately. The Bondline section on rigging mentions a "factory fix" for the issue (at this point we are assuming our aileron mass balance hole was drilled incorrectly causing this misalignment). What is the factory fix available? Also our flap down position exceeds the allowable limit (limit is 47, ours are 49 to 50 degrees), the maintenance pub mentions adjusting the forward limit switch to correct for this, but there doesn't appear to be any way to adjust the switch. How does one adjust the limit switch? My only thought would be to bend the arm on the switch to make it actuate sooner to limit the down position of the flap.. Another question is we've noticed some play in the flap torque tube bearing. Is there any way to remove play up by tightened the bearing without disassembling the bracket attached to the honeycomb and/or the flap torque tube. It appears that there is a bolt which passes through the bearing inside the torque tube, could that be tightened? One more question concerning on what appears to be a "flap striker plate?" attached to the wing just forward of ~ mid span on the flap, there is a "rub" surface on the flap just beneath it, does anyone have this part? One of ours is missing., Pics attached Thanks for assistance, Cheers Bill Chambers AA5A KSGJ

Make sure you are referencing neutral from a factory template made for checking aileron rigging. Wing top trailing edges are known to be up or down from neutral. One Tiger I owned was 7 degrees up at the trailing edge of the wing tip.... Bob Steward told me that he bent many aileron weights to make them ride neutral even with bottom of wingtip. He said that the procedure for redrilling was not always necessary. He also said that the factory had mis drilled several that needed redrilled. I would recommend you take a very short flight to Valdosta and have Loyd Montague at True Flight Aerospace fix it correctly. They are the factory and very reasonable in cost. It's really something you'd want an experienced Grumman mechanic to look at On Dec 28, 2014, at 10:28 PM, Tunahawk <metuna@earthlink.net> wrote: We have the templates from Fletchair Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=436377#436377

It would be interesting to see what your wingtip reads on the templates On Dec 28, 2014, at 10:28 PM, Tunahawk <metuna@earthlink.net> wrote: We have the templates from Fletchair Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=436377#436377
