I know by the previous post from Gary about shutting the list down that
there must be someone out there other than me receiving the posts here, so
thought I should put something in play. Instead of waiting for my next trip
to KAUN, I'll ask some post painting questions so perhaps everyone may
benefit. Here is the first.
Before painting I bought new canopy seals from Fletchair and gave them to
the paint shop. Unfortunately they did not quite know what to do with black
one (which should go on the canopy) but did install the white one on the
fuselage. Then when the canopy would not close the last 6 inches or so,
they removed the white one and trimmed the plastic piece where it attaches.
Now I have them both and only a smashed black rubber seal remains on the
canopy itself.
I understand some people have applied a strip of felt at the back of the
canopy instead of the factory seals. Should I put in the new black and
white seals, put a felt strip on the canopy or just say the heck with it and
let Gary fix it when we change the windshield in a month or so?
